Facebook Fears

I haven't added to my blog in quite some time!
Thought that I would report to you all that I have just reactivated my Facebook account (although purely for the lunge exercise!).

I have been observing my fellow workmate's enthusiastic engagement with Facebook. I don't get it! What is wrong with me? Maybe it is because I don't fit the Gen Y demographic and I wasn't born with a virtual reality chip in my head.

My workmates have tried to get me to explain my reluctance to embrace Facebook, but it is something that I can't put my finger on. The last time I tried to explain , I ended up in "in my day..." mode talking about obsolete library technologies and describing the use of acoustic coupling cups for dial up access to remote databases. It was at that point their eye's glazed over. Sorry about that.

Anyway, I don't wish to appear to be a neo-Luddite. I have aways embraced new technologies in the work place more so than for personal enjoyment. Psychologically, it is a big jump fo me to mesh the two.

Maybe the next generation's eyes will glaze over when we spin a yarn to them in the future about the heady days of Facebook. In my day...

Hi 'Beck', had to laugh at your comments! You know it's weird, we're having a 'week without the internet' at our place this week and everyone is so much more relaxed. Cyberspace never sleeps, and when you're constantly checking your emails, social networking pages etc etc, you just never get time to relax...neo-Luddite? No fear!
